We don't think they're interchangeable, Breann. You? |
As our researchers wander the net looking for utterly ridiculous claims, instructions, and misinformation; the same names seem to crop up again and again. If you took a look at our "Dumbasses Sorted by Name"
pages you'd find some winners have been back almost twenty times! Others are only in that list once, but that might be because they are new discoveries; new discoveries like
Breann Kanobi (no relation to Obi-Wan, we suspect), only discovered last week. Breann's back, however, to explain, in her uninformed way, "
How to Use Dewalt Batteries in Black & Decker Power Tools" for that mother lode of misinformation, eHow.com – now niched at HomeSteady.com, but still uninformed...
Suffice it to say, we suspect Kanobi (not, we are pretty certain, her real name) of ignorance regarding power tools; not least because in her original text (found via the Wayback Machine at archive.org) she referenced "
Dewlat [sic] Power Tools"... sigh.
But we're even more certain she had no idea what she was talking about when she concluded by telling her readers to
|
|
"Locate the Dewalt battery of the appropriate voltage. Any battery that matches in voltage should work with tools because both Dewalt and Black and Decker use lithium-ion batteries."
That's right: the only thing that's important, according to Breann, is voltage...
"As long as your voltage matches, you should be able to use a Black and Decker tool with a Dewalt battery..."
That's after "informing" her readers that |
"Many power tools utilize a strong battery instead of using a power adapter."
A
power adapter? is this idiot kidding? Has she never seen a corded power tool? There ain't no adapter there, Breann!
All of that dumbassery, however, pales alongside the very real problem that Kanobi seems to have never noticed – probably because she didn't bother to do any research beyond looking up how to spell "lithium-ion" – that not all batteries have the same shape, and not all of them have the contacts in the same position and configuration... and anyone interested in plugging a Dewalt battery into a Black & Decker tool had better find a battery of the right type. And by "type," we don't just mean "voltage"; unlike our Dumbass of the Day. |
