Ivanka Trump for vice president?

While we don't say so very often, most of the staffers at the Antisocial Network are convinced that, if you want to hear something really stupid, you just need to ask people political questions. That probably goes double for asking people about the politics of a different country: most Americans don't comprehend the parliamentary system of government: how do they think the Canadian PM is elected? Today's DotD falls under that category: he's a Pakistani who calls himself Emge, and he offered up this cogent political analysis at DailyTwoCents.com: "Ivanka Trump as running mate?"¹

Yes, it was three years ago – back when politics was still only slightly insane – and the newly-anointed Republican candidate for president was interviewing potential running mates. Rumored candidates included Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney... before DJT settled on Indiana governor (and rabid evangelical Christian) Mike Pence. Emge's advice to the candidate? Pick your daughter...

It's a pretty safe bet that this former Pakistani Air Force officer didn't give a rat's hind end about who Trump selected for his running mate, he just wanted the bucks. Unfortunately, his reach (for cash) exceeded his grasp (of facts). Take a gander at some of these statements²

• "Donald Trump is the presumptive GOP candidate for president. Yet 13 months back nobody had heard of him...": The guy was a friggin' reality TV star, Emge! Hell, half the people in America knew who Omarosa was!
• "Donald... will most likely accept the nomination for president at the GOP convention.": You're kidding, right? He would refuse the nomination after spending all that time and (other people's) money to run?

• "Will Donald take his daughter as his running mate? I am afraid this will not happen as Trump will then be open to the charge of dynasty politics.": Apparently the guy was prescient, what with Trumps and Kushners littering the White House halls today.
• "...in case it was to happen, I feel Donald will have a roller coaster ride to the White House.": Apparently Emge doesn't know what a "roller coaster ride" is...

We'll admit that Ivanka's a lot more attractive than Mike Pence, but the suggestion that DJT select yet another person who also had zero governmental experience as running mate was, at best, unwise (and potentially stupid). Trump's selection of Pence was almost certainly a move to shore up weak support from social conservatives and evangelical Christians, groups that would be at best lukewarm to a woman who converted to Orthodox Judaism.

Emge's failure to understand American politics is understandable given that he lives half a world away. On the other hand, his failure to understand American politics yet attempt to write about them is all we needed to nominate the guy as our Dumbass of the Day.
