Poverty for Dummy Freelancers

Based on the self-help section at the local (and online) bookstorea, one surefire way to get rich is to tell people how to get rich. Some freelancers have taken this idea to heart, preying on the less fortunate among us in the desperate search for residual income (i.e., riches). Today's dumbass, caught trying to do just that, is InfoBarrel's Shay Carmack, aka MsShay. Shay called her foray into the get-rich arena "How to Afford Presents During the Holidays."

Carmack's four-step instructions are followed by a blank "Tips and Warnings" section – maybe she tried to publish it at eHow first? Regardless, however, her advice is simple – and mostly stupid:
  1. Make a list
  2. Use a search engine to comparison shop
  3. Watch shipping costs
  4. Collect ads
Note that Carmack the Magnificent says nothing about price alerts, wish lists, bargain sites (e.g. Overstock), discount sites (Groupon, Living Social), do-it-yourself ideas, coupons, loyalty clubs, or any of a dozen other money-saving ideas. All she says is some hackneyed bullshit about shopping in your pajamas. Where have we heard that before, eh?

Perhaps the most damning evidence that Shay is a dumbass is the date she published these scintillating suggestions: it was on December 27th. Perhaps she was thinking about all those Groundhog Day, Presidents' Day and Valentines Day presents everyone shops for...

Here at the Antisocial Network, we can only imagine how many millions of hits Shay collected with this marvelous advice, and we are certain it netted her enough income to buy that McMansion she always wanted. We sure hope she picked up enough that she can pay someone on her household staff a little extra to polish the mantel for her Dumbass of the Day award!
