Corner Sink Cabinets, the Dummies Version

The break-room kitchen at Antisocial Network World HQ just doesn't cut it, so the staffers have been passing around their suggestions for a remodel. Since the room has no windows – it's just a break room, after all – several of the plans call for placing the sink in the corner of the room. The idea reminded one researcher of a HomeSteady.com post she'd flagged a few weeks before, so she passed it on the the nomination team. That's how "How to Make a Corner Kitchen Sink Cabinet"¹ by Judi Light Hopson came to be today's DotD nominee.

We aren't certain how Hopson's decades of owning a psychology degree figure into cabinet design, but then neither would anyone else. You see, Judi Light didn't even attempt to describe how one might make such a cabinet. No, all she did was describe how one might use a corner sink cabinet. At least she started out making sense...
"Some kitchen floor plans work best with the sink placed in a corner area. This is often the case if the kitchen is L-shaped or U-shaped. Building a cabinet or buying a pre-made cabinet to fit will require creating a cabinet with a front face cutting across the 90-degree corner. Installing double sinks or a large rectangular sink will require a cabinet large enough to easily drop the sink in and provide surrounding space for faucets..."
...but, unfortunately, Hopson immediately dropped the ball when it came to the "how" part. Her first instructions concern choosing a sink:
"Review styles and shapes of corner sinks before you design the cabinet. Visit home improvement stores and kitchen websites to review the many shapes and materials available for corner sinks. Use your favorite sink's measurements to decide how to lay out the countertop plan."
Uhhh,  Judi? sinks and cabinets have some standard shapes and sizes. Besides, the question was about how to make a cabinet. That's why we were heartened when you said, "Design the cabinet to have two doors at the bottom," but were nonplussed when your instructions for building it turned out to be, "Select a pre-made cabinet or build one from 3/4-inch plywood or particle board that will stand between 33 and 36 inches high, in most cases"!

We mean, is that all she's gonna tell us about the "how"? Even if she included a link to a forum about "How to Design a Corner Cabinet" in her so-called references? Did she even read the damned thing? Oh, yeah, Hopson had plenty more to tell us about "how to make" this cabinet, detailed instructions like, "Install a corner window in some fashion to bring in light"! Does this moron even know what that little task might entail?
It's no wonder our staffer flagged Hopson for this bull. The only thing that bothers our staff is that it took this long to award her the Dumbass of the Day.
