Stick-On Ceilings for Dummy Redecorators

tin-look ceiling

We spend very little time browsing at the site called Snapguide.com,¹ mostly because it's rather hard to find anything interesting there.² Much of the content seems to be about decorating and fashion, plus a boatload about making stuff from old pallets. Ick. But we did stop by not long ago, at which time we happened across Dave Woods and his 10-step post, "How to Install Faux Tin Ceiling." Rock Collecting for Dummy Fifth-Graders

Truth be told, our staffers spend most of their time scanning the many niche sites in which Leaf Group (formerly Demand Media) has been stashing the former eHow.com content. Apparently the SEO gurus liked niches back in 2017... As a result, they don't have much time for the ever-fewer other collections of dumbassery. Bike Chains for Dummy Facebook Engineers

It's been quite a while since we bothered to look at the website Snapguide.com. In fact, we've only been there once before, for some dude's rather lame "instructions" on sharpening lawnmower blades. That doesn't mean their catalog doesn't include rubbish, it just means that it's hard to find anything there... but one of our team members (the staff cycling enthusiast) stopped by with a list of terms, and sure enough – she found Skylar Woodward and his... somewhat lacking version of "How to Change Your Bike Chain."

To Quote the Dummy, "Do as I Say, Not as I Do"

Quick and dirty blade balancing
A new day, a new platform rife with freelancer stupidity! A little poking around at the website SnapGuide.com quickly located a contributor more interested in making money off his expertise than getting off his lazy butt. The freelancer is Jim Burke, and his topic is "How to Sharpen Mower Blades."

Now there's nothing inherently wrong with the instructions Burke gave, other than the fact that his mower is considerably different from that of most people, so the ten steps spent on getting the blade(s) off are pretty much a waste. It's also not that he assumed people have a grinding wheel (we actually do, but that's beside the point). No the dumbassery came in at steps 20 and 21, in which Burke told us,
