Clean Energy, the Dummy Version

One form of clean energy: nuclear
We like the word "conflate" here at the Antisocial Network, not least of all because so many dumbass things written by penny-seeking freelancers are a product of conflation run amok. So it's fitting that we close out our week of InfoBarrel honorees with member smcopywrite (Sharon Martinez), a master of conflation who also plies her trade at HubPages.com and in a plethora of blogs. Today's sample of her dumbassery is an Infobarrel.com post called "What Clean Energy Can Do for You as an American" (apparently the search terms "clean energy" and "American" ranked high on her SEO tips that month...)

SM vomited out some rather plain-vanilla content here, but it's painfully clear that she has no idea what she's talking about in the world of natural resources and renewables. As evidence, we present the following statements:

  • "Water, air, trees, grass and everything that comes along with nature is a natural resource." Well, yeah – but so are coal, natural gas, petroleum, uranium...
  • "Clean energy can help us save our air when we don’t burn energy sources such as wood and coal." So burning natural gas and fuel oil instead of wood will save our air?
  • "One of the biggest ways we keep jobs in this country is working new jobs to make the devices needed to harvest clean energy and dispense it around the country." Huh?
Of course, it would help a lot if SM were to explain what she means by "clean energy" – but she never quite gets around to it. She prattles incessantly about the topic, but never mentions these energy sources – broadcast power from space, maybe? natural gas? nuclear power? renewable energy? Who knows. What we do know is that this dumbass conflates "clean energy" (whichever definition you might choose) with conservation efforts like recycling and reduction of one's carbon footprint. Sheesh: no wonder she's our Dumbass of the Day.
