Physician, Heal Thyself for a Dummy Blogger

everything you need to know about blogging, my ass
Everything you need to know about blogging, our ass
Ever heard that admonition before? "Physician, heal thyself"? If you haven't, it essentially means that you shouldn't criticize someone else for having the same fault as you. Say, Donald Trump shouldn't be calling Hillary Clinton a "liar" until he examines his own demonstrably tenuous connection with the facts. Be that as it may, we'd rarely seen this except in people writing "grammar" suggestions, not until we decided to visit a previous DotD to see what other inane crap she had to say. Libby Baez, aka CountryWine of PersonaPaper did not fail with her post, "Many Posts Are Way Too Disappointing."

Rock Climbing, the Dummy Version

El Capitan
El Capitan
Our Chairperson and CEO (yes, we have one; he's sometimes known as the chief cook and bottle washer) admits to occasionally wondering what it would be like to go through life as... as what? as disconnected from reality? as the freelancers he sees plying their trade on the net. Never mind the incessant "sharing" of every thought, inspiration, or bowel movement on sites like Facebook, these folks are hell-bent on harvesting pennies on sites like the late, unlamented Bubblews, EliteVisitor and PersonaPaper. Our research team browsed some of the content at PP not long ago and came across a wealth of inanity. Not least among the dumbasses they discovered on their tour of the site was one CountryWine (real name Libby Baez), who shared her thoughts, such as they are, in articles like "Aspiring to Rock Climbing."

Conspiracies for the Dummy Fundamentalist

European Bronze Age civilizations
Dumbassery takes many forms. Some of the recipients of the Antisocial Network's Dumbass of the Day award are incautious in their "research" and some are simply ignorant of the topic. The worst of all, in our unbiased opinion, are those who are willfully ignorant – the ones who believe in conspiracies to "hide truth from the common man" and other bafflingly stupid ideas. Some listen to too many episodes of InfoWars, some are too deeply embedded in their political echo chambers. Some even claim that they're "open-minded" and "well-educated"; people like Vince Summers, spotted blathering about conspiracy theories in an article at PersonaPaper.com he called "Are Scientists Quick to Cover Their Tracks?"

Pyrite for Dummies

Pyrite cube
As they wander the back roads of the internet, the Antisocial Network staffers are often amazed, though not necessarily amused, by some of the ridiculous rubbish people spew. We're not even talking about the unceasing river of stupidity flowing through social media sites; we rarely bother with those. No, we generally confine our search for dummies to those places where hack writers try to make money off advertising and referrals (an increasingly difficult task as google gets wise to content farms and keyword stuffing). Once in a while, we come across a veritable jewel in the rough... or, to be more precise, a bit of extra rough in the rough; where someone says something really, really stupid while trying to be "smart." Today's example is a veritable fount of misinformation whose scribbling can be found at PersonaPaper.com, Vince Summers; here caught in the midst of misinforming his readership in a post he called "My Virginia Find - Devil's Dice."¹

Residual Income for Freelancing Dummies

Money, money, money, money!
We used to think that no content has a higher bullshit quotient than the rubbish posted by people telling you how to make millions posting your every moronic thought online. Entire sites – such as Bubblews – were built on the idea of sharing what you ate for breakfast, what your English as a Second Language teacher said in class, and how pretty today's sunset over Luzon was; all to collect a penny for every visit from other people sharing the exact same babble. Well, we were wrong: there are posts out there that have even higher bogosity quotient, and here's one of them: Saramarie (also known on other sites as Sadiemarie) sharing, on Personapaper.com, "How to make $10,000 a Month Online."

Her method? actually, we don't know. The reason we don't know is that this is what Saramarie tells her readers:
